The right to privacy

More about the research objective

The aim of the research team was to present the main trends in the right to privacy from a comparative legal perspective and to examine its interpretations, problems and legal representations. One of the key issues of the research was the extent and limits to which national authorities can intervene.
The research team focused on cases where the influence and intervention of international organisations (i.e., the Council of Europe and the European Union) had an impact on the national privacy regime of a state. Furthermore, they examined how the right to privacy is interpreted in national jurisprudence and by international organisations in cases where one of the parties was the analysed state. The overall objective of the research team was to present a national perspective on the interpretation, implementation and protection of the right to privacy and to identify national specificities.
