Changing foreign service conditions

More about the research objective

The aim of the research team was to study the changes in the functioning of consular and diplomatic traffic in the countries, mainly from the perspective of Central Europe. The rules governing the foreign service and, above all, consular functions have undergone significant changes over the years. Some diplomatic institutions (e.g. diplomatic asylum) have also undergone a certain evolution. These changes are driven not only by cooperation between states, but also by external factors such as the computerisation of work.
In its studies, the research team has dealt with the issue of changes in diplomatic traffic and, above all, with various aspects of domestic and international consular law – civil, administrative or criminal. It also analysed the changing structure of the norms and studied the different categories of foreign service bodies and the new public administrations responsible for legal relations with foreign states.
