SUP Workshop – Prof. Dr. Sunčana Roksandić

On February 20-21, first-year students at the Central European Academy had the opportunity to attend an incredibly engaging lecture on criminal law, delivered by Sunčana Roksandić, a distinguished professor at Zagreb University of Law. In addition to serving as the Head of the Criminal Law Department, she teaches courses on Economic Criminal Law, Transitional Justice, EU Substantive Criminal Law, and the Protection of Victims, as well as Bioethics, Human Rights, Medicine and Law, and Law and Movies.

Her reputation for making complex topics accessible had preceded her, and everyone was eager to experience her teaching firsthand. During the lecture, students explored topics such as sexual crimes, ecocide, organized crime, and the implications of artificial intelligence systems. In an interactive format, Professor Roksandić invited students to assume the roles of judges, prosecutors, and defense attorneys. She provided a compelling case for them to analyze, creating a realistic simulation of a legal scenario. The students enthusiastically took on their roles, debating various arguments, analyzing evidence, and grappling with ethical dilemmas. This eye-opening experience sparked thoughtful discussions and promoted critical thinking among the participants.
