On 27 and 28 February 2025, Prof. Bartosz Rakoczy, a Full-Time professor at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, delivered emphasising the role of environmental law. Our PhD students had the exceptional opportunity to gain insights into nuclear liability and the philosophy of environmental law from one of the leading experts in the field. Prof. Rakoczy highlighted the specific regime of nuclear liability under the Polish Atomic Law and its relation to the solutions applied in the Civil Code. He also examined the categories of nuclear damage, with a particular focus on damage to the environment as a common good. Additionally, he explored the evolution of philosophical approaches to environmental issues, emphasising the influence of ecosophy in shaping contemporary legal thought.
