SUP Workshop – Dr. Krzysztof Szczucki

On January 30-31, 2025, the Central European Academy had the honor of hosting Professor Dr. Krzysztof Szczucki, associated professor of University of Warsaw, member of Polish Parliament (Sejm).

On the first day, the professor delivered an in-depth presentation on the axiological foundations of law, focusing on natural law, the principle of common goods, and their interpretation within Polish legal frameworks. The session also examined how these principles have been reflected in the works of Polish legal scholars. A significant part of the discussion centered on human dignity, analyzing its fundamental role in legal reasoning and governance. The principle of a democratic state governed by the rule of law was explored through examples from the Polish Constitution, illustrating how legal principles translate into national legal systems. This session provided a strong theoretical foundation for the second day's interactive engagement.

The second day transitioned from theoretical discussion to practical application. Participants took part in interactive exercises: The audience was divided into teams and assigned hypothetical scenarios related to human rights and constitutional values, where they were required to develop legal frameworks and regulations. By engaging in this exercise, participants not only reinforced their theoretical knowledge but also gained insight into the complexities of real-world legal decision-making.
