On 11 December 2024, the University of Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński in Warsaw hosted the Oxford Debate 2024, focusing on Equality in an Ever-Integrating Europe. Organised as part of the Central European Professors’ Network and coordinated by the Central European Academy, the event brought together academics and students to discuss key challenges and opportunities in European integration.
The opening ceremony featured remarks by Professors Marcin Wielec and Professors János Ede Szilágy, with Bartłomiej Oręziak presenting the debate rules and Julia Starybrat introducing the Oxford Debate format.
The discussions centred on adopting unified EU regulations to address global challenges and the role of equality as a foundation for cooperation among member states. Participants explored equality in EU treaties, case law, and its application in civil and criminal matters, offering comparative perspectives and insights into fostering resilience and unity within the EU.
The Polish team featured Wiktoria Zwolińska, Faustyna Zabielska, Karol Rogala, and Łukasz Sitkowski. Representing the Central European Academy were Nikolina Marasović, Weronika Pietras, Jovan Živanović, and Lea Feuerbach. Together, the teams presented compelling arguments, highlighting equality as a cornerstone of integration and strengthening cross-border academic dialogue.
