Professor profile

About

Dr hab. Wojciech Lis, prof. KUL – academic lecturer, professor of law at the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin and the Academy of Justice in Warsaw. Director of the Institute of Family Sciences at the Academy of Justice in Warsaw. His scientific interests are interdisciplinary; focusing primarily on issues concerning the protection of human freedoms and rights, family law and bioethical issues, medical law, including the protection of patients’ rights, as well as social communication and freedom of expression. In his research and teaching work, he strives to present the issues discussed through the prism of the practice of the application of legal provisions and universal ethical principles. He combines scientific research with the practice of law as an attorney-in-law (District Chamber of Legal Advisers in Warsaw).

He has taught in international exchange and foreign cooperation programmes at universities in Ukraine, Slovakia, Albania, Macedonia, Spain and Italy. In 2019, he was on a 3-month research internship at Eurasia International Univeristy in Yerevan, Armenia. Besides, he participated in several shorter research internships/study visits to academic centres in Bulgaria, Lithuania, Croatia, Georgia and Ukraine.

He is head and member of the research group ‘Social exclusion of older people – legal responses’ in the Polish-Hungarian Professors’ Network 2024.

He is the author of scientific articles published in the following scientific journal(s) of the CEA Publishing: (a) Central European Journal of Comparative Law.
