Introduction

Barnabás Lenkovics is Professor Emeritus of Law at the Department of Civil Law and Civil Procedural Law of the Faculty of Law of Széchenyi István University. He was the Head of this Department from 1996 to 2018. He was an ombudsman from 2001 to 2007 and a judge of the Constitutional Court from 2007 to 2016, as well as the president of the Constitutional Court from 25 February 2015 to 21 April 2016. He wrote two university textbooks on his own (Basis of Civil Law and Rights in Rem) and two others with co-authors (General Doctrines of Civil Law and Personal Law). He published three monographs under the titles Humans and Property in 2013, Humans and Law in 2018 and Human and Humanity in 2023.

His main research areas cover the fields of property law, rights in rem, personal law, and human rights.
