Mieczyslaw Ryba – historian, professor doctor habilitated in the humanities, John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin. Currently, Professor Ryba works as a researcher at the Catholic University of Lublin and also as a lecturer at the College of Social and Media Culture in Torun. He is president of the Prof. Czesław Strzeszewski Club of Catholic Intelligentsia in Lublin. He was a councilman of the city of Lublin for many years. From 2010 to 2018, he held the position of vice-chairman of the Lublin City Council; currently he is chairman of the Lublin Regional Assembly. He is the author of numerous scientific and popular science publications.
On November 11, 2015, Mieczyslaw Ryba was awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Rebirth of Poland by President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda for his outstanding contributions to the dissemination of knowledge of Poland’s recent history, for his achievements in scientific and didactic work. On January 27, 2022, the Sejm of the Republic of Poland appointed Mieczyslaw Ryba to the College of the Institute of National Remembrance – Commission for the Prosecution of Crimes against the Polish Nation.
