This year’s JAEL conference focused on environmental liability, examined through a wide range of legal perspectives – from the role of constitutional rights and the state’s environmental obligations to civil liability and compensation for environmental damage, the development and implementation of administrative measures, as well as the investigation, prosecution, and adjudication of environmental crimes. The conference brought together more than 40 participants from the Visegrad countries (Czechia, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia), including leading scholars, judges, prosecutors, and public officials.
Instead of the traditional format, the conference was organized into thematic panels, in which panel leaders first delivered summary presentations on their groups’ findings, followed by discussions with the other panel members to further explore the legal framework and identify best practices. The outstanding research will be published in 2026 in two special issues of the Scopus-indexed Journal of Agricultural and Environmental Law (JAEL). The JAEL 2025 conference aimed to create a unique interdisciplinary forum for discussing one of the most pressing legal issues of our time. Journal of Agricultural and Environmental Law (JAEL) folyóiratban. A JAEL 2025 konferencia egyedülálló interdiszciplináris fórumot kívánt létrehozni korunk egyik legsürgetőbb jogi kérdésének megvitatására.
