Zoltán Nagy has been a research professor at CEA UM since 2024. He previously joined the organization as a leader and participant in research programs. He has contributed to CEA UM’s activities by writing and editing textbooks and leading research for the professorial network’s economic governance program. In addition to his position at the CEA UM, he is a professor and head of the Department of Financial Law at the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences of the University of Miskolc, where his main areas of research are environmental taxes, certain areas of public finance law, and banking law.
Zoltán Nagy studied law and economics at the University of Miskolc, where he obtained a degree in law and economics, followed by a PhD and a habilitation title. In addition to his work as a university lecturer and researcher, he has extensive experience in both finance and economics. Between 2019 and 2024, he was head of the Public Law Department at the Mádl Ferenc Institute for Comparative Law. His academic and public activities include membership of the Legal Examination Board from 2008 to 2016 and participation in the Curia’s Legal Practice Analysis Group in 2012-2013. Since 2015, he has been a core member and supervisor of the Deák Ferenc Doctoral School of Political Science and Law at the University of Miskolc. Several of his PhD students have obtained their degrees, and he currently has several PhD students. He participates in the work of the Miskolc Regional Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and since 2020 he has been the chair of the State and Legal Sciences Committee and the Political Science Working Committee. He is a member of the editorial board of several journals and the chair of the editorial board of the Miskolc Law Review. He is the founding president of the Central European Association for Comparative Law from 2021 to 2024. He has received several professional awards and honors.
