Patrick Van den Bosch is Head of VLUHR QA, the quality assurance agency of the Flemish Higher Education Council based in Brussels. He has been working for VLUHR QA and its predecessor organisation since 2008, where he has built extensive expertise in programme evaluation and quality assurance methodologies. His work includes engagement with the European framework for quality assurance, notably the European Approach for Quality Assurance of Joint Programmes, and he acts as an advisor to national and international higher education institutions.
He is recognised as an expert in the development and implementation of quality assurance systems and contributes actively to both policy development and professional practice in the field. Since 2021, he has been a Board Member of ENQA (the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education), where he currently serves as Vice-President. Prior to joining the Board, he was already closely involved in ENQA activities, including participation in agency reviews.
In addition to his role at VLUHR QA, he serves on several boards and advisory bodies related to higher education and quality assurance. Since 2023, he has been an external board member of the Quality Assurance Board of EUPeace, a European university alliance bringing together nine universities. Since 2022, he has also been a board member of AEQES of the French-speaking Community in Belgium. Furthermore, he contributes as an external evaluator of European Erasmus+ projects.
He holds a Master’s degree in History (2004–2005) from KU Leuven and a Bachelor’s degree in History (2001–2003) from KU Brussel.
