Introduction
Dr. Katarzyna Zombory serves as Director of Research at the Academy (CEA UM), where she is responsible for the coordination of international academic cooperation and multidisciplinary legal research programmes, as well for overseeing the work of the Academy’s own publishing house, CEA Publishing. She played an important role in the institutional development of the Central European Academy of the University of Miskolc, having led its establishment as Acting Director General in 2022. Prior to assuming her current position, she worked as a Senior Researcher at the Ferenc Mádl Institute of Comparative Law. Her main area of scientific research is public international law, with special focus on human rights law, cultural rights, and international cultural heritage law.
She holds a PhD in public international law from Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin, Poland (2015), where she also completed her Master’s degree in law. During her academic training, she undertook extensive international studies and fellowships, including at the Centre Européen Universitaire in Nancy, The Hague Academy of International Law, Leiden University, and Pázmány Péter Catholic University in Budapest.
In addition to her research activities, Dr. Katarzyna Zombory is the Chairwoman of the Human Rights Center of the Central European Association for Comparative Law and a member of several international scientific societies, including the International Law Association – Hungarian Branch. She serves on the advisory and editorial boards of peer-reviewed journals and academic book series, contributing to the development and dissemination of comparative and international legal scholarship in Central Europe and beyond.
In addition to her research activities, Dr. Katarzyna Zombory is the Chairwoman of the Human Rights Center of the Central European Association for Comparative Law and a member of several international scientific societies, including the International Law Association – Hungarian Branch. She was the leader and member of the 2023 Central European Professors Network research group entitled „Common Defense Policy – Legal Framework for the Development of the European Defense Industry.”
