{"id":25422,"date":"2025-12-11T09:12:19","date_gmt":"2025-12-11T08:12:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/centraleuropeanacademy.hu\/?post_type=rendezveny&#038;p=25422"},"modified":"2026-01-30T10:30:29","modified_gmt":"2026-01-30T09:30:29","slug":"the-oxford-debate-2025","status":"publish","type":"rendezveny","link":"https:\/\/centraleuropeanacademy.hu\/en\/rendezveny\/the-oxford-debate-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"The Oxford Debate 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This year, the Criminal Procedure Scientific Circle, together with the Faculty of Law and Administration at Cardinal Stefan Wyszy\u0144ski University in Warsaw, held the Oxford Debate for the fifth time, entitled: \u201cAccountability of Constitutional State Bodies in the Context of the Rule of Law Crisis.\u201d The event took place on December 11, 2025, at 10:00 AM in the UKSW Auditorium Maximum (Kazimierza W\u00f3ycickiego Street 1\/3).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The debate aimed to review the mechanisms of state accountability in light of contemporary challenges to the rule of law, both domestically and internationally. Participants sought to explore how various forms of oversight and accountability functioned in practice, and what role they played in upholding the norms of a constitutional state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two topics will be of particular relevance:<br>\u2013 Domestic Accountability \u2013 Constitutional, Political, and Criminal Dimensions,<br>\u2013 External Accountability \u2013 European and International Dimensions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two teams participated in the Oxford Debate:<br>\u2013 a team from Poland,<br>\u2013 a team from Central Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event was aimed at practitioners, academics, PhD students, and anyone interested in the Oxford Debate format and issues related to the rule of law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The debate was initiated by Dr. Marcin Wielc, professor at UKSW, and was organized within the Polish\u2013Hungarian Professors\u2019 Network under the coordination of the Central European Academy in Budapest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event took place within the framework of the Polish\u2013Hungarian Professors\u2019 Network, with the University of Miskolc \u2013 Central European Academy participating as a co-organizer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div
