The Central European Academy organised a book launch event entitled "Great Theorists of Central European Integration" on 23 May 2024 in Miskolc. The book is a sequel to "The Development of European and Regional Integration Theories in Central European Countries", which presents the European and regional integration theories of ten Central European countries: the Hungarian, Romanian, Croatian, Serbian, Slovenian, Czech, Slovak, Polish, Ukrainian and Austrian concepts. In addition to the plans developed in the countries discussed in the previous volume, German and French plans for the Central European states are also presented.
It was already clear from the previous volume that different concepts can be linked to specific individuals. In this volume, therefore, we have presented the lives and work of the thinkers who developed the plans for European integration. In this way, the ideas are given a 'face', as they are often influenced by the life of the person who developed them. The theorists include politicians, economists, clerics, civil servants and writers who have approached integration from a wide variety of perspectives, each from their own professional background. They also reflect their nationality and the historical and political situation of their countries. Many paths and plans, often crossing each other, have been created for the peace and prosperity of Europe.
