On 9 May 2024, the Central European Academy organised a book launch conference entitled "Current Issues of Company Law in East Central Europe" in Budapest.
The key role of company law in Central and Eastern Europe is to provide the legal framework necessary for the efficient and responsible operation of businesses. It is through mechanisms that ensure transparency and accountability within corporate organisations that trust is built between investors and stakeholders. Precise regulation of corporate governance not only promotes economic stability and growth, but also facilitates cross-border investment and trade, thereby increasing the attractiveness of the region for foreign investors. Company law also protects the rights of shareholders, management and, to a certain extent, even employees, contributing significantly to a fair and equitable business environment. Rigorous implementation of modern company law regimes is essential for a competitive and sustainable business environment conducive to economic development in Central and Eastern Europe, which is one of the key themes of our upcoming conference on the current challenges in this area.
