Prof. Marek Andrzejewski is a Professor at the Institute of Legal Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the head of the Family Law and Child Law Centre in Poznań.

Prof. Marek Andrzejewski earned his doctoral degree from the Institute of National Remembrance (IPN PAN) in Warsaw in 1987. From 1987 to 1996, he worked as a caretaker and educator in a children’s home. His reflections on the institution and its operations are detailed in his book „Houses Built on Sand” (2007). He obtained his postdoctoral degree in 2005 with the work „Protection of Children’s Rights: Child-Family-State” (Kraków, 2003). From 2004 to 2008, he was a member of the Civil Law Codification Committee of the Ministry of Justice, specifically in the family law group. His area of expertise is family law.
