Tudorel Toader is a PhD professor at the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University in Iasi, Romania. He teaches criminal law and European criminal law and is a member of the Doctoral School. Previously, he was rector, dean and deputy dean of the Faculty of Law.

Former Minister of Justice (2017-2019), Judge of the Constitutional Court (2006-2016), Prosecutor (1986-1990) and Member of the Venice Commission (2014-2022).
He is currently a lawyer at the Bar Association of Iași and a member of several organisations, including the Committee of A.I.D.P. – The International Society of Criminal Law, the Board of Directors of the Romanian Society of Criminal Law Academics and Vice-President of the Romanian Academy of Law.
