About
Petar Bačić is a Professor of constitutional law and the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Split (Croatia). In addition to constitutional law, he also teaches European law and human rights law. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Southeast European Law Schools Network, and a member of both the Croatian Constitutional Law Association and the Midwest Political Science Association.

Professor Bačić was also a member of the expert committee on constitutional law issues appointed by the President of the Republic. He serves on the editorial boards of the SEE Law Journal and the SEE/EU Cluster of Excellence in the European and International Law Series of Papers. Professor Bačić has extensively written on Croatian and comparative constitutional law, European law, judicial activism, and human rights. He gives lectures at various universities both in Croatia and abroad. As a researcher, Professor Bačić actively participates in different international academic projects and conferences and has organized several international educational programs. His primary research areas include comparative constitutional law, European public law, and human rights.

He was a member of the research group ‘Constitutional Identity and Relations between the EU Law and the Domestic Law of Member States’ in the Central European Professors’ Network 2022. He was a member of the research group ‘The Future of Coexistence in the European Union’ in the Central European Professors’ Network 2023.

He is a member of the research group ‘EU Enlargement and Successful Integration’ in the Central European Professors’ Network 2024.
He is PhD supervisor in the „Central European Comparative Law” PhD programme at the Ferenc Deák Doctoral School of Law of the University of Miskolc.
He is author in the following books of the CEA Publishing: (a) Common Values and Constitutional Identities : Can Separate Gears Be Synchronised? (2023), (b) Maastricht 30 (2024), (c) Coexistence in the European Union (2024). He is the author of scientific articles published in the following scientific journal(s) of the CEA Publishing: (a) Central European Journal of Comparative Law.
