Bertrand Mathieu, professor emeritus of Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne University, former senior member of the French Council of State, president emeritus of the French Constitutional Law Society. Member of the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe, previously a member of the French Conseil supérieur de la magistrature. He is also a member of the steering committee of the European Public Law Organization, and was previously a member of the review committee dealing with the criminal status of the head of state (2002), as well as the review and proposal committee dealing with the modernization and balancing of the institutions of the Fifth Republic (2007).
