Introduction

Michal Petr, PhD, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of International and European Law at Palacky University of Olomouc (Czech Republic). Here he works as a senior researcher and focuses on EU law, in particular constitutional EU law, fair procedure and the economic aspects of EU integration, in particular competition law, state aid, public procurement and the regulation of network industries.

He gained his experience between 2011 and 2012 at the OECD, and especially at the Czech Competition Authority, where he has been working since 2003, and between 2010 and 2015 he was the vice president responsible for competition law and policy. He is the author of numerous publications on EU law, network industry regulation and due process. He is a member of the editorial board of ANTITRUST and Public Governance, Administration and Finances Law Review. He is also a member of the advisory appeal committee of the Czech Competition Authority and the Czech National Bank.

He was a member of the research group ‘Constitutional Identity and Relations between the EU Law and the Domestic Law of Member States’ in the Central European Professors’ Network 2022. He was a member of the research group ‘The future of coexistence in the European Union’ in the Central European Professors’ Network 2023. He is head and member of the research group ‘EU Enlargement and Successful Integration’ in the Central European Professors’ Network 2024.
