On 13–14 May, first-year PhD students at the Central European Academy had the opportunity to attend a lecture delivered by Dr. Magdolna Vallasek PhD, a distinguished professor of labour law at the Sapientia Hungarian University of Transylvania in Cluj-Napoca (Kolozsvár).
Titled Work-Life Balance in the Context of Employee Rights, with a Special Focus on the Situation of Women and Families Raising Children in the Labour Market, the lecture began with a brief recap of last semester’s discussion on the human rights dimension of labour law.
This time, the focus shifted to pressing issues such as work-life balance , the gender gap in labour force participation, the right to disconnect, and burnout.
The session concluded with several thought-provoking quotes to inspire further reflection. Designed to encourage interaction, the lecture created a vibrant and engaging environment, deepening participants’ understanding of the social and legal challenges surrounding employee rights today.
